چکیده

Aiming at operating effectively future traffic systems, we propose here a novel methodology for integrated lane-changing and ramp metering control that exploits the presence of connected vehicles. In particular, assume percentage vehicles can receive implement specific tasks (e.g., commands), while is available via an infrastructure-based system or enabled by The proposed approach designed to robustly maximise throughput motorway bottlenecks employing feedback controller, formulated as Linear Quadratic Integral regulator, which based on simplified linear time invariant flow model. We also present extremum seeking algorithm compute optimal set-points used in only measurement cost representative achieved conditions. method evaluated simulation experiments, performed first-order, multi-lane, macroscopic model, featuring capacity drop phenomenon, allows demonstrate effectiveness developed highlight improvement terms generated congestion.

Non-Local Feedback Ramp Metering Controller Design

This paper treats the problem of controlling large freeway systems through ramp metering to enhance their efficiency. Following a rigorous discretization methodology, an extension of the CTM model to inhomogeneous freeways with on and off ramps is proposed. Based on passivity theory and the piecewise affine formulation of this model, an LMI formulation is developed to design non-local feedback ...

Control of traffic with anticipative ramp metering

When there are different routes from origin to destination in a network, the traffic divides itself over these routes. The resulting assignment is often determined by the travel times on the different routes. When control measures are implemented the travel times for some routes change, which can lead to a change in the assignment. This change in assignment can effect the performance of the who...

Coordinated Ramp Metering and Intersection Signal Control

The operations of freeway ramp metering and urban traffic network signal control are independent in most areas. Such situation may cause some conflict between traffic streams of the two subsystems, or, at least, their dynamic interactions have not been taken into account from an overall system viewpoint. Traffic performance can be improved if the controls of these two subnetworks are integrated...

Iterative learning control based ramp metering tracking various trajectories

In this work, we apply the iterative learning control approach to address the traffic density control via ramp metering in a macroscopic level freeway environment. The traffic density control problem is formulated into an output tracking problem and the tracking trajectories are variable with time and iteration change. Rigorous analyses and intensive simulations show that the iterative learning...
